Castor oil - (C3H5 (C18H33O3) 3) vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean plant, is a mixture of triglycerides of ricionoleic linoleic and oleic acids. This thick, non-volatile oil, insoluble in water and gasoline, dissolves in all proportions in anhydrous ethyl alcohol, ether, acetic acid, chloroform, and only partially in petroleum ether. In air it slowly thickens, forming a viscous mass. Has a specific smell and characteristic taste. The color of castor oil depends on the variety and varies from brownish yellow to almost transparent depending on the degree of purification. Castor oil does not dry out, does not form a film.
