Methoxypropanol is a colorless, water-miscible liquid with a mild alcoholic odor and medium volatility.
Methoxypropanol mixes well with water and other organic solvents, dissolves many organic substances well, methoxypropanol can act as a substitute for many glycols (E-series).
Methoxypropanol is used as a solvent for printing inks: it provides good solubility for a wide range of resins including acrylic, epoxy, alkyd, polyester, nitrocellulose and polyurethane resins.
Benefits of using methoxypropanol:
low toxicity.
Reduced surface tension and good volatility are some of the benefits of using methoxypropanol.
These properties allow this substance to be used to dissolve polar and non-polar materials.
Combination:
methoxypropanol, can be used in combination with other solvents of the P-series: (glycol ethers) and expands their scope.
Methoxypropanol has a very low primary alcohol content of less than 2%. Primary alcohol is much more active than secondary alcohol.
The low primary alcohol content minimizes chemical reactions with the solute.
