Characteristics
Application

Polyisocyanate (Methylene diphenyldiisocyanate (MDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate) is an aromatic diisocyanate.

It is commonly known as three isomers: 4,4-MDI, the most widely used isomer, also known as pure MDI and 2,2-MDI, 2,4-MDI.

Polyisocyanate is a dark brown liquid mixture of 4, 4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) with isomers and homologues.

In the production of polyurethane foam (PPU), MDI is more often referred to as "component B" of a system that forms polyurethane by reacting with "component A".

Chemical formula C15H10N2O2

Synonyms and international name
