Characteristics
Application

Zirconium (Zirconium silicate) (lat. Zirconium; denoted by the symbol Zr) is an element of a secondary subgroup of the fourth group of the fifth period of the periodic system of chemical elements of D. I. Mendeleev, with atomic number 40. The simple substance zirconium is a shiny silver-gray metal. Possesses high ductility, corrosion resistance. It exists in two crystal modifications: α-Zr with a hexagonal lattice of the magnesium type, β-Zr with a cubic body-centered lattice of the α-Fe type, the α↔β transition temperature is 863 ° C. Zirconium silicate is a finely ground white powder made from zirconium ore.

Synonyms
Zircon, zirconium silicate, zirconium oxide, zirconium oxide
English. Writing: zircon, zirconium silicate, zirconium oxide

Application
in the production of ceramic products (in sanitary ceramics for the preparation of glaze, glaze masses);
when painting metal surfaces (as a surface muffler, to give a bright shiny color);
in the production of glass products;
in nuclear power (for the manufacture of fuel elements, assemblies in the design of nuclear reactors);
in the production of bone, joint and dental prostheses and surgical instruments;
in metallurgy it is used as a master alloy (a good deoxidizer and denitrogenator of alloy steel);
in the production of refractory materials (brick, clay, cement, asbestos, concrete, electrodes, etc.)
Packaging
Zirconium silicate is supplied in containers from manufacturers in 25 kg bags.
